There are several things that women can do
to ensure good breast health.
Some of the easiest and importants
precautionary steps to take is to eat well
and exercise. This not only ensures good
overall health, but also good breast health.
It is also a good idea to reduce the amount
of time that you wear a bra, and only wear
ones that fit you properly. Getting a good
sports bra for added support when you are
out getting your daily exercise or even
when you are walking around at home may
be beneficial. Or you can decide to go bra-
free.
It is also a good idea to learn how to do
breast self-exams, and to do these on a
regular basis. Also, have clinical
examinations done at your annual medical
check-up. Determine your risk factors and
discuss these with your doctor so that you
can decide when to start having regular
mammograms or thermograms. Getting a
mammogram is especially important if you
are over the age of 40 or if you have certain
risk factors (e.g. a family history of breast
cancer, personal history of breast cancer or
a genetic predisposition). A mammogram is
an X-ray of the breast that will show any
abnormal changes before you or your
doctor will be able to feel them. This can
be pivotal in early diagnosis and treatment
of cancer. Women at increased risk should
talk with their doctors about the benefits
and limitations of starting screening earlier
or having additional tests performed, such
as breast ultrasound or MRI.
How to Perform a Breast Self-Exam:
Begin by looking at your breasts in the
mirror with your shoulders straight and
your hands on your hips.
Here is what you should look for:
1. Breasts that are their usual size, shape,
and color.
2. Breasts that are evenly shaped without visible distortions or swelling.
If you see any of the following changes,
bring them to your doctor’s attention:
1. Dimpling, puckering, or bulging of the skin.
2. A nippple that has changed position or
become inverted (pushed inwardly
instead of sticking out).
3. Redness, soreness, rash, or swelling.
Raise your arms and look for the same
changes.
While you are at the mirror, gently squeeze
each nipple between your finger and
thumb and check for nipple discharge (this
could be a milky or yellow fluid or blood).
Feel your breasts while lying down, using
your right hand to feel your left breast and
then your left hand to feel your right
breast. Use a firm, smooth touch with the
first few fingers of your hand, keeping the
fingers flat and together.
Cover the entire breast from top to bottom,
side to side – from your collarbone to the
top of your abdomen, and from your
armpit to your cleavage.
Finally, feel your breasts while you are
standing or sitting. Many women find that
the easiest way to feel their breasts is when
their skin is wet and slippery; any lumps or
thickening will be easier to feel than when
your skin is dry. Thus, many women like to
do this step in the shower. Cover your
entire breast, using the same hand
movements described above.

"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." (Mark 11:24)
A lot of people have actually prayed for things and didn't see anything that looked like the answer because they didn't know what to expect.
Firstly, I like to say to you that prayer is not the moment of complaint to God rather it's a moment of communing with God, talking to & with the father & also a time of declaring his mighty power over the works of man & of the earth. When you have this understanding you wouldn't be complaining when you pray rather your attitude towards prayer would change.
Our text says everything you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it & it will be yours. This means if you prayed to have a job, believe that you have the job. This belief would prompt you to behave like someone who works in that company, learn their ethics, etc & soon the job would be yours. If you are praying for a husband, believing that you have the husband would prompt you to start behaving like someone's wife, developing the good characters a wife should possess & eliminating the bad habits a wife shouldn't have.
NB: Prayer is more than the words that come out of our mouth while on our knees, it carries the responsibility of belief & action.
*He who does not know how to keep his stomach will never know how to keep his future... ask ESAU!
*All you need to fight battles is not height nor weight, but quality of faith... ask DAVID!
*Those who determined that if they perish, they perish as long as it's worth it never perished afterall... ask QUEEN ESTHER!
*It is the spirit of God upon a man that makes him intelligent... ask DANIEL!
*Life of many years without fulfilling purpose is as good as dead... ask METHUSELAH!
*Staying in the fire does not necessarily mean burning to ashes, it depends on how you see it and what you carry... ask SHEDRACH, MESHACH and ABEDNEGO!
WRITTEN BY UZO GLORIA (JNR)
"I know, O LORD, that a man's life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps." (Jeremiah 10:23, NIV).
You can only determine the course of something that belongs to you. Your life is not your own. Allow God, the owner, guide your steps. Commit your plans to God daily and let Him lead you. Things may not work as you've planned sometimes. Smile because God is making everything work for your good. God sometimes uses "disappointments" to push us back into His will!

The Federal Government has invoked the
‘no work, no pay’ labour rule against
striking university lecturers as their
industrial action enters the 93rd day with
no end in sight.
Some of the federal university vice
chancellors have not paid the Academic
Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)
members their August and September
salaries in compliance with the
government’s directive.
Some branch chairmen of ASUU see the
government and vice chancellor’s move as
an attempt to break the rank of their
members, insisting that their members are
resolute on the ongoing strike.
Some ASUU branch chairmen told Daily
Sun that text messages were sent to vice
chancellors to apply the ‘no work, no pay’
labour rules to academic staff on strike
and that the decision had affected the
payment of salary of non-academic staff in
the university system.
According to one of the branch chairmen,
he and his exco confronted their university
management over the salary delay and the
he showed them the text message asking
them not to pay salary to ASUU members.
He stressed that the ‘no work, no pay’
labour rule had never worked, pointing out
that ASUU has a counter-measure, which
was ‘no pay, no work,’ and that the union
was not on strike because of salary
increment.

This piece is written for and dedicated to all the hardworking men and women of this world like me. Those who toil day and night with the hope that tomorrow will be better than yesterday, those who fast today so that they
can have their fill tomorrow, those who labour on in the face of the incredible hardships of life, those who struggle relentlessly despite the greatest travails and challenges thrown at them, those who manage to have a cheerful smile on a face full of sweat and tears - it is to them I bring this.
LESSONS FROM THE LIFE OF THE RICHEST BLACK MAN ON EARTH
A prodigiously wealthy and luxuriantly blessed human - Aliko Dangote said that it took him 30 tortuous years to become a billionaire but youths of today want to become a gazillionaire faster than Usain Bolt.
Many Nigerian youths are bitter (like bitterness will make one better), pointing accusing fingers at people like Dangote, Adenuga and generally seeing nothing good
in what others do, believing the world is against them. For those, I leave you with the immutable words of J. K Rowling, writter of
the Harry Potter series:
“There is an expiry date on blaming your
parents for steering you in the wrong direction; the moment you are old enough to take the wheel, responsibility lies with you.”
That is not all. The legendary French writer
and philosopher who rejected the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1964, Jean-Paul Sartre
also said:
“Man is condemned to be free; because once
thrown into the world, he is responsible for
everything he does. It is up to you to give life
a meaning.”
But perhaps, the most poignant advice of all
is from the Wise One of China, Confucius,
who stated thousands of years ago:
"Attack the evil that is within yourself, rather
than attacking the evil that is in others.”
In a nation like Nigeria where there is so much negativity emanating right from independence till date, Aliko Dangote still rose above it all - he comes across as a man
with a most positive mindset.
You might well remember that nothing can bring you success but yourself.

DANGER POINTS WHERE THE DEVIL CAN STRIKE
1. WEARINESS:
In Old Testament times the 'birthright' meant you
inherited twice as much of your father's
estate. Normally Esau wouldn't have considered selling his birthright, but he did in a state of exhaustion.
2. EXCITEMENT:
King Herod was seduced by
a dancing girl, threw caution to the wind and said,
'Whatever you ask me, I wil give you'.
She asked for the head of John the Baptist. And since he was king, Herod couldn't go back on his word. That moment of indulgence cost Herod his kingdom and his life.
Be careful where you go looking for excitement, and how you react when you find it. It can cost you the game!
3. DISCOURAGEMENT:
In a moment of discouragement Peter did what he swore he'd never do: deny his Lord.
Discouragement can make you say things you don't mean and do things that are out of character.

BRAIN DAMAGING HABITS
1. No Breakfast
People who do not take breakfast are going
to have a lower blood sugar level.
This leads to an insufficient supply of
nutrients to the brain causing brain
degeneration.
2. Overeating
It causes hardening of the brain arteries,
leading to a decrease in mental power.
3. Smoking
It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may
lead to Alzheimer disease.
4. High Sugar consumption
Too much sugar will interrupt the
absorption of proteins and nutrients causing
malnutrition and may interfere with brain
development.
5. Air Pollution
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in
our body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the
supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing
about a decrease in brain efficiency.
6. Sleep Deprivation
Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term
deprivation from sleep will accelerate the
death of brain cells.
7. Head covered while sleeping
Sleeping with the head covered increases the
concentration of carbon dioxide and
decrease concentration of oxygen that may
lead to brain damaging effects.
8. Working your brain during illness
Working hard or studying with sickness may
lead to a decrease in effectiveness of the
brain as well as damage the brain.
9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts
Thinking is the best way to train our brain,
lacking in brain stimulation thoughts may
cause brain shrinkage.
10. Talking Rarely
Intellectual conversations will promote the
efficiency of the brain.
