CAMPUS GIST: Students react to ASUU's postponement of NEC meeting

Following the death of former ASUU president Prof. Iyayi (may his soul rest in peace) and 'pillar' as present president Dr. Isa Fagge has labelled him, ASUU was compelled on grounds best known to them to postpone the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting which was to hold yesterday, 13th November, 2013.
The death resulted from an automobile collision between Prof. Iyayi's vehicle carrying three other ASUU members of the University of
Benin with a police escort vehicle of the governor of Kogi state's convoy  while d former was enroute Kano state for the NEC meeting. Only Prof. Iyayi died in the incidence.
The issue now is why ASUU would have to postpone a meeting that other members were already in attendance from other parts of the country, thereby prolonging the strike that has lasted for almost five months now over the death of Prof. Iyayi. Students who have been 99% positive that the lingering strike would finally be called off probably by today have been disappointed again, although not really a surprise to many as such things easily happen in our dear country Nigeria.
Here are some of the reactions from students over the once again shattered hopes by ASUU. Posts are uneditted.

10. I don’t know the reason why public
office holder(Governors) are
claiming lives of people because of
their own selfish interest and
reckless driving. I’ve learnt over
years that leader lead my example,
but reverse is the case when it
comes to Nigeria leaders.Most of
the accident that happens
nowadays on the highways are
caused by governors convoy and
their reckless driving and they
called themself Leader. With or
without convoy God can kill
anybody even if u have a million
convoy and security. I think our
leaders should be oriented about
the uses of convoy and security
before they claim another person’s
soul.
